Your mindset can help elevate your mood, accomplish goals, increase motivation, productivity, and ultimately determine your success or failure.
Before you can develop a successful mindset, you must first understand…
What is Mindset?
By definition, Mindset is… an attitude, disposition, mood, intention or inclination. So, to put it simply, your mindset is a way of thinking.
Why is mindset important?
Well, because it can determine your success or failure…that’s all!
A great example of the power of mindset is in 2007 there was a study of 84 maids from different hotels. They were asked if they exercised. 1/3 of the maids said they exercised occasionally and 2/3 said never. The maids were then put through a physical assessment and were deemed to be as fit as a sedentary person.
The study then told 44 of the 84 maids that what they do for work actually meets or surpasses the guidelines for activity! They were even told calorie counts for some of the activities they performed at work.
One month later they did another assessment. The 44 who were told that what they do for work actually was exercise had lost on average 2lbs, lowered blood pressure and were overall healthier. This while not changing their lifestyle at all…they did not start exercising or start eating better, they just perceived what they did everyday differently.
It was the power of their mind that had effected their bodies and overall health…their mindset made them healthier!
How to Develop a Successful Mindset?
There are three tips I have for developing a successful mindset..
1) Write it Down…You will come to find out, this is the #1 thing I suggest you do if you want to accomplish anything…why? Because if you write something down, no matter what it is, you are 42% more likely to do it! So, if your mindset is to “be happy” that day, then you are 42% more likely to be happy that day if you write it down. Pretty simple.
2) Be Mindful…Being mindful simply means “paying attention on purpose” So, during the day, instead of going through the motions and letting the day control you, remind yourself of the mindset you set for yourself. You can even set an alarm and when it goes off, it will remind you to “be happy!”
3) Be Consistent…Consistency is the key to success! Ask any successful person how they become successful and they will tell you…Consistency! I have a program call TRUE PATH where I write down my mindset every single day. If you are consistent in writing down your mindset it will become habitual and you will start to live a more successful life…period!
If you can control your mindset, you can control your life! So, take that first step right now and write down the mindset you want for today. Then repeat the process tomorrow and the next day.
